A rich 3D environment for an interactive, personalized storytelling app for children, delivered under strict mobile constraints and refined as the requirements kept moving.

Magic Library environment

Challenge

Keep a detailed, atmospheric library readable on phones while staying under a 100k-polygon cap and a 5 MB GLB budget, with many animated elements and technical requirements that changed more than once during the project.

My contribution

Modeling, texturing, lighting and lightmap baking of the environment; animated props; mobile optimization; and direct collaboration with the client's developers in their weekly calls across 485 contracted hours.

Technical solution

Baked lightmaps instead of real-time lights, instanced geometry for repeated objects such as books, a strict texture budget, and a named, documented object hierarchy so the scene could be driven and extended by the development team.

Outcome

A production environment delivered within the agreed limits, and a completed contract reviewed 5.0 for communication, adaptability and creative initiative. The figures are the project's constraints as reported for this project, not independent benchmarks.

The polygon and file-size figures are project constraints, not independently benchmarked performance results. Additional visuals are pending client approval.
